Corporate Responsibility is part of the DNA of Sanofi, at the heart of our development strategy because we believe it to be key to the long-term sustainability of our company.
The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) lies at the very heart of our business, and the dedicated CSR department we have created to oversee this dimension across everything we do informs both our strategic and operational decisions. It ensures that our activities promote social progress and economic development, improve our environmental performance and support patients ethically and responsibly.
The success of this emphasis on CSR was recognised by winning the inaugural Corporate Responsibility category in the 2010 Pharmaceutical Marketing Excellence Awards. In addition to our work on extending access to health in the developing world through enlightened pricing policies and the steps we have taken to conduct business openly and transparently, this award acknowledged our record of supporting international, national and local charities, education initiatives and patient groups.
In the UK as elsewhere, we have invested considerable sums in reducing our carbon footprint, mainly by reducing water consumption and waste, recycling more and investing in energy-efficient technologies.
