Sanofi and Regeneron Announce Publication of Phase 2 Results with LDL Cholesterol-Lowering PCSK9 Antibody in the New England Journal of Medicine
Sanofi and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that results from a Phase II trial of SAR236553/REGN727 in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia were published in the October 31, 2012 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

The Soon to be Famous Five make a big Splash in the Great Big Monster Sea Swim
The FIRST EVER swim relay crossing from Guernsey in the Channel Islands to South Devon called the Great Big Monster Sea Swim (GBMSS) will start today. The five man team; Paul Irwin, Karl Whittaker, John Jameson, Bruce Hughes and Jon Parker will start the non-stop relay from Pembroke Bay, Guernsey and attempt to make the crossing in only 42 hours whilst raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Sanofi Announces 2012 Patient Group Bursary Winners
Sanofi is delighted to announce the three winners of its 2012 Patient Group Bursary scheme: Ataxia UK (Gold - £25,000), Crohn's and Colitis (Silver - £15,000) and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (Bronze - £10,000). Each of the three winning charities made exceptional cases for ambitious, but realistic campaigns capable of making a lasting difference on the lives of patients on their respective fields.

Sanofi employees to climb Mount Snowdon to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust
As part of the year-long Sanofi Inspires campaign to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, 13 employees of Sanofi, a diversified healthcare leader, will climb Mount Snowdon, Wales. The team hope to complete the 3,560 foot ascent and descent of Snowdon in less than seven hours and raise over £1,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

More than 70 employees of Sanofi, a diversified healthcare leader, will today complete the first big challenge of the Sanofi Inspires programme by completing a 60 mile bike ride from Oxford to Guildford.

Sanofi Announces Results of ORIGIN, the World's Longest and Largest Randomised Clinical Trial in Insulin in Pre- and Early Diabetes
Sanofi presented results from the landmark ORIGIN trial (Outcome Reduction with Initial Glargine Intervention) at the American Diabetes Association 72nd Scientific sessions. The key findings showed that, compared to standard care, Lantus® (insulin glargine [rDNA] injection) had no statistically significant positive or negative impact on cardiovascular (CV) outcomes versus standard care during the study.

NHS spending on diabetes 'to reach £16.9 billion by 2035'
A new report published in the journal Diabetic Medicine has projected that the NHS's annual spending on diabetes in the UK will increase from £9.8 billion to £16.9 billion over the next 25 years, a rise that means the NHS would be spending 17% of its entire budget on the condition.

Genzyme-Sanofi integration: Transfer of business units
Last year Genzyme Corporation was acquired by the global healthcare company Sanofi, with the merger completing at a corporate level in April 2011. In the UK & Ireland, Genzyme formally became part of the Sanofi Group from January 2012, bringing a number of changes with respect to therapeutic business units.
