1.2 million Scots are ‘abdominally obese’
Expanding waistlines mean almost one third of Scots now at higher risk of heart disease and diabetes.
More than 1.2 million Scots have a waistline that puts them at a heightened risk of developing heart disease and diabetes, according to a new analysis of official data conducted by sanofi-aventis.
Scottish health figures show the proportion of men and women classed as ‘abdominally obese’ has risen significantly in recent years. As a result, 30 per cent of men and women in Scotland now have a waistline that raises their risk of developing diabetes and heart disease in the future.

AAH, Phoenix and UniChem to distribute sanofi-aventis medicines
Monday 30 July 2007 Guildford: Sanofi-aventis UK announced today that in order to improve supply chain efficiency and integrity in the delivery of its medicines to patients, it will reduce the number of wholesalers who distribute its medicines, commencing 1 November 2007.
The selected wholesalers, AAH, Phoenix and UniChem, will offer 100% national coverage across the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, whilst still providing pharmacists, hospitals, and dispensing doctors with a choice of supply. There is no change to their wholesaler status and they will continue to control both discounts and delivery frequency.

Sanofi-aventis call on fundraisers to join Wallace and Gromit and wear the wrong trousers
Sanofi-aventis UK is proud to announce today that it is lead sponsor for this year’s Wallace & Gromit’s Wrong Trousers Day, under the theme of “Get Your Kit On”.
Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation raises funds on Wrong Trousers Day, Friday 29th June, when people are encouraged to wear wacky clothes and pay £1 for the right to look wrong. The theme for this year’s Wrong Trousers Day, taking place across Britain, will be Get Your Kit On and people of all ages will be urged to wear outlandish trousers or sports kit.
