Industrial Infrastructure

November 07, 2011

Over many decades, Sanofi has built up powerful R&D, manufacturing, distribution and commercial capabilities across five sites in the UK.

Worldwide, more than 30,000 people are dedicated to the production of active ingredients and the manufacture, packaging and distribution of Sanofi medicines and vaccines - including more than 1,000 in the UK.

Our UK medical, marketing, financial and legal departments are based in Guildford, Surrey, along with our Clinical Research Unit and Zentiva, a subsidiary which markets generic medicines.

Sanofi production sites in the UK are at Fawdon near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (one of the largest in Europe), Holmes Chapel in Cheshire and Dagenham in Essex.  Fawdon supplies 40 markets around the world, and Holmes Chapel is the inhalation and nasal spray centre for Sanofi, supplying worldwide markets including United States and Japan.  Naturally, all our sites meet good manufacturing practice in accordance with all relevant international standards.

To ensure the highest quality of our products at all times, we integrate all stages of production from development and manufacturing to packaging and distribution.  The group also has exceptional production capacities for vaccines and biologics including insulin.
